Aberdeen’s landmark Mercure Caledonian Hotel has been bought by local hospitality entrepreneurs Keith Martin and Robert Keane for an undisclosed sum.
The pair have taken ownership of the historic 83-bedroom Union Terrace hotel, which was built as the Grand Hotel in 1892 and had been on the market since March 2025.
Martin, who worked as a barman at the hotel while studying in Aberdeen, is behind The Craftsman Company Coffee and Ale House, while Keane’s interests include the Douglas Hotel, Molly’s Bistro and The Trinity Centre.
Martin said: “This is a magnificent building with a long history in this city, and I have fond memories from when I was a student working here.
“We have very ambitious plans, and our aim now is to give this building the future it deserves.”
