Aberdeen based mum, and Charity Chief Executive, Phionna McInnes, has earned herself a place in the final line-up of The Mpower National Business Awards, prestigious awards celebrating parents throughout the UK who manage the difficult task of juggling business with family life.
Founder of Me Too! Magazine, mother of two from Aberdeen, Phionna produces a free quarterly magazine for families of children with Additional Support Needs to a readership of 28,500 in the area, as well as organising “Relaxed Sessions” in partnership with other organisations to ensure events and sessions can be accessible to everyone.
Phionna has been shortlisted for the Community Award as well as being shortlisted for this category, Phionna is also in with a chance of winning the title of Mpower Woman Of The Year 2018, which will be awarded to the mum who is an inspiration to all women in business, and could walk away with a fantastic prize.
Having reached the finals of The Mpower National Busness Awards, Phionna said “I am surprised and thrilled to have been short-listed on a national level. Not just for the community impact, but also the business model and the recognition that I am doing all of this as a single mum and juggling all the conflicting demands this presents.
“There are a lot of awards out there, and we are proud about what makes these awards, and the women who enter, different!” said Nicola Huelin, multi-award winning business coach, founder of the Mpower awards, and mum to four children with her partner Graham. “Often invisible to most, mums in business are changing the business landscape, while raising and inspiring the generations of the future. We believe their efforts and successes in overcoming the unique challenges of combining business and motherhood, particularly in those first few years when it’s the hardest, need to be recognised and celebrated.”
Judging Phionna’s entry will be a panel of top parent entrepreneurs but she’ll have to wait until, June 23, when the winners will be announced at The Mpower Gala, being held at the Holiday Inn Bloomsbury in London.
The Mpower Gala has been called The Networking Party Of The Year and is open to all entrepreneurs and business owners for an evening of networking, inspiration and celebration.Tickets can be purchased through the Mpower website, where you’ll find a range of resources and information for mums in business www.mpowerawards.com
