The Aberdeen Christmas Village hosts a special day for key groups within the Aberdeen city community to take part in festive activities.
This week, the Aberdeen Christmas Village will be hosting Festive Fun Day – a day dedicated to ensuring Childrens Charities in Aberdeen are given the chance to enjoy the Christmas activities on offer at the village. This is an inclusive event which facilitates groups within the community who may ordinarily find it difficult to access the village and the attractions there to do so in a welcoming and supported environment. The Festive Fun Day visitors will be able to enjoy free rides and ice skating, with expected visitor numbers to be in the hundreds.
The Festive Fun Day has become a staple component of the Aberdeen Christmas Village since its beginning in 2015. The Christmas Village, organised by John Codona’s Pleasure Fairs, Aberdeen Inspired and Aberdeen City Council offers a range of festive food, drink and outdoor attractions and activities. Festive Fun Day is an opportunity for the Christmas Village to support the Aberdeen community and spread Christmas cheer.
The Codona family stated - “The Festive Fun Day and working with charities such as Charlie House for our Christmas Market is what the Aberdeen Christmas Village is all about – bringing Christmas cheer in an inclusive, supportive way for community groups in Aberdeen. As we face the cost-of-living crisis, it seems vital that we continue to host this day and pull together with groups within the community to bring joy in the face of difficulty where we can.”
Festive Fun Day takes place December 6 this year, with select school groups getting to experience the village from 12.30-3.30pm, followed by charity sessions taking place from 4-6pm. Charities taking part in Festive Fun Day this year include Action for Children, Befriend a Child, Charlie House and We Too!.
