A local businesswoman is celebrating a turnaround in her business after seeking help from a business coach.
Eighteen months ago, Isabel Lockhart, a family celebrant, was actively looking for a job as her business was not performing as she had hoped.
"My business was failing, or to put a twist on it, I was failing my business," she said.
A one-to-one meeting with Steve Lees, also known as Frankie Grit, marked a turning point. Isabel explained that Steve told her the failure was her fault (brutal!), but that she could do something about it. She was initially hesitant about the cost of coaching, but Steve offered a three-month money-back guarantee if things didn't improve.
The results speak for themselves. After working with Steve, Isabel saw her business turn a profit last year for the first time. Her bookings jumped from 15 in 2023 to 38 (and counting) in 2025, with 27 weddings already booked for 2026.
"Working with 'Frankie Grit' and his no-nonsense approach to coaching allowed me to view my business through fresh eyes. I was working in my business rather than on it," Isabel stated.
Isabel is now hosting one of Steve's workshops in Aberdeen, calling it a "no-brainer." She says the workshop is for anyone who feels stuck and is struggling to get and keep customers. The event, titled "FRANKIE GRIT’S GET SHIT DONE CLUB," is aimed at those who are "fed up with theory and fluff" and are ready to take action. Attendees will leave with clarity, structure, and a 90-day plan.
The workshop will be held at the Palm Court Hotel on 1st October from 9 am to 1 pm. Steve was recently named the SME Business Coach of the Year 2025.
