Marks and Spencer Aberdeen Union Square has raised £16,500 for Marie Curie.
The money was raised through a variety of fundraising activities including in-store bag packs, sponsored in-store runs on treadmills and tea parties within the local community. Marie Curie nurses work day and night in patients’ homes across the UK providing hands on care and vital emotional support to patients living with a terminal illness and their families. Their services are always free, but their hands –on, specialist end of life care costs £20 per hour. The £16,540 raised equates to 827 hours of Marie Curie nursing care.
Rachel Morrison M&S Aberdeen Union Square store manager said: “Marie Curie is a cause that’s close to the hearts of our team and customers, and we are thrilled to have raised such a fantastic amount for the charity. I would like to thank my colleagues and our customers for their on-going support and fundraising efforts over the last year.”
Lauren Edwards, community fundraiser, said: “A very big thank you to all of the M&S Union Square staff, we are delighted to be given the opportunity to partner with the store and are extremely grateful for the generosity and continuous support from their customers. It’s been great to see so much enthusiasm. All the money raised through this partnership will help terminally ill people in your local communities.”
