The vacant former Marks and Spencer building in Aberdeen city centre could be demolished, it has been revealed.
The prominent flagship store on St Nicholas Square has lain empty since M&S chose to instead focus investment on improving its Union Square shop.
A number of suggested uses have been put forward, such as converting the building into an arts venue, but none have progressed.
Now, The Press and Journal reveals, M&S bosses have confirmed they've tabled proposals with Aberdeen City Council to demolish the iconic building.
No reason has been given for the plans at this point.
A spokeswoman told The P&J: She said: “Subject to approval, we will engage with the community and key stakeholders on the proposed plans.”
