Global underwater technology leader MacArtney has appointed Donald Macleod as Managing Director of its UK and Ireland business, the company's largest operation outside Denmark.
Based in Dyce, close to Aberdeen Airport, MacArtney has served the UK and Ireland since 1999, supporting the marine, offshore, ocean science and naval sectors.
Donald spent more than six years with Dutch marine contractor Boskalis, latterly as Quality and Transformation Director for its offshore energy division. Before that, he served as the Engineering, SHEQ (safety, health, environment, and quality), and Supply Chain Director for its subsea services arm.
Previously, he was Managing Director of Highland Fuels, one of Scotland's major independent fuel distributors, and Operations Director at energy industry consultancy PDi.
Niels Peter Christiansen, Chief Executive of MacArtney, said: “The UK and Ireland are a key market, and Aberdeen is central to how we serve the North Sea and beyond. Donald's background gives him firsthand insight into the challenges and considerations our customers face, putting him in an ideal position to grow the business.
“With him in post, our operation benefits from strong local leadership, backed by the resources of an international organisation.”
Donald Macleod, Managing Director, MacArtney UK and Ireland, said: "MacArtney is a well-established international business with a strong heritage and excellent reputation. The founders' values, with entrepreneurship, quality and people at their heart, very much align with my own.
"Throughout my career, I've worked alongside suppliers and customers, and good relationships come down to open communication, responsiveness and reliable products. I see opportunities to build on MacArtney's position as a trusted partner to the energy sector, while exploring further growth in defence and ocean science.
"The Aberdeen team has built solid foundations, and I look forward to working with colleagues across the group to take the UK and Ireland operation into its next phase."
Donald will work closely with Paul McCafferty, group Chief Commercial Officer, who joined the company in March.
MacArtney's Aberdeen team of 55 works from a purpose-built 3,000 m² facility with cable assembly and moulding workshops, a 1,000 m² warehouse, and a hydrostatic pressure test facility that simulates depths of up to 6,000 m.
