One of the North-east’s most popular wedding destinations has celebrated success at a long-established national awards event, further underlining its reputation for excellence.
Aberdeen’s country house in the city, Macdonald Norwood Hall, received the Wedding Coordinators of the Year honour at the Scottish Wedding Awards after seeing off fierce competition.
The winners were announced during a black-tie ceremony held at the Glasgow Marriott Hotel with the Norwood team’s dedication to providing first-class customer service to brides and grooms impressing judges. Sister venue, Grange Manor, located near Falkirk, was also victorious in the Hotel Wedding Venue of the Year category.
Now in its 13th year, the Scottish Wedding Awards recognises and rewards talent working across the country’s wedding industry. Macdonald Norwood Hall has enjoyed success at the event in recent years, with honours for Wedding Venue of the Year (North) in 2023 and Local Wedding Exhibition of the Year in both 2023 and 2024.
More recently, the hotel clinched the Best Wedding Venue (Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire) trophy at the Your Scottish Wedding Awards in November.
Katrina Wardrop, general manager at Macdonald Norwood Hall, commented: “This latest achievement is welcome recognition for our dedicated team of wedding professionals, who all work tirelessly to provide the best possible experience for each bride and groom that chooses to celebrate their big day at Macdonald Norwood Hall.
“Awards like these demonstrate the high standards we continually set as a team. I couldn’t be prouder of the levels of care and attention to detail consistently shown by our colleagues, who know exactly what it takes to plan a successful wedding and ensure these most important of occasions run smoothly.”

Built in 1881 and located within the grounds of the 15th century Pitfodels Castle, Macdonald Norwood Hall is surrounded by breathtaking natural scenery, including seven acres of gardens and woodland, which provides the perfect setting for weddings of all sizes.
The award-winning hotel has welcomed thousands of brides and grooms through its doors over the past 50 years and continues to host countless special moments for all the family.
Katrina added: “Our wedding professionals take huge pride in adding creative touches into each ceremony that we plan by fully utilising the incredible venue and outdoor space that we are truly fortunate to have on our doorstep.
“They work in harmony with each couple to understand exactly what they are hoping to achieve from their special day and ensure that every wedding guest has a positive and memorable experience from start to finish.”
In February, Macdonald Norwood Hall hosted its popular annual wedding fayre, featuring a host of local suppliers, ranging from photographers and cake designers to jewellers and stationery experts.
With 73 luxury bedrooms, including bridal suites and period rooms, Macdonald Norwood Hall can accommodate ceremonies of all sizes – from up to 200 people in the venue’s ballroom to smaller, more intimate events in the library or private function rooms.
The four-star hotel caters for weddings all year round and never holds more than one ceremony on any given day to ensure complete focus is given to each couple.
Similarly, the menu for each wedding or event can be personalised to suit individual tastes or preferences while retaining an emphasis on quality food and drink, including locally-sourced produce and fresh ingredients.
