Maggie’s Culture Crawl returns for its third year in the North-east

Maggie’s Aberdeen Centre is gearing up to host its third annual Culture Crawl on June 21, after the success of last year’s walk which saw over 500 walkers take to the streets to raise over £115,000.

Each year the cancer support charity creates a new 10-mile route exploring some of Aberdeen’s most iconic landmarks and this year is no different. With Aberdeen now leading in terms of both participation and fundraising across all 14 Culture Crawls held nationwide, Maggie’s is looking to set the bar even higher.

Following the format of previous years, the route and locations will remain a closely guarded secret until the event. At each venue along the way, the participants will enjoy captivating cultural performances, live music, and delicious food options.

Brodies LLP continues to be the headline sponsor for Maggie’s Culture Crawls across Scotland and is proud to continue its support for Aberdeen’s third Culture Crawl, which will begin at Aberdeen Beach Leisure Centre at 5pm.

Paula Cormack, centre fundraising manager for Maggie’s Aberdeen, said: “We’re so excited to be hosting our third annual Culture Crawl in Aberdeen and are incredibly grateful for the support of our dedicated supporters.

“Aberdeen is now the leading Culture Crawl for Maggie’s and we’ll certainly not be resting on our laurels. We are passionate about making this year's Culture Crawl even better with some great venues, live performances and mouth-watering food on offer.”

Nick Scott, managing partner at Brodies LLP said: “We are proud to support the Culture Crawl again this year. Maggie’s is a great charity that has a positive impact on the lives of many people in the North-east and across the UK, including colleagues at Brodies and their friends and families.

“I’d encourage people in the local community to show their support by participating in the Culture Crawl; it’s a great way to bring people together to have fun and learn something about Aberdeen, while raising money for a wonderful cause.”

One walker who has taken part in both previous walks said: “The last two Culture Crawls have been great and each year has been completely different. The events were full of surprises and this year I plan to take friends and family along.

“I have seen first hand the wonderful work that Maggie’s do for people that are going through something terrible. It’s so important to support the work it does so it can carry on helping our community.”

Registration is now open for Culture Crawl Aberdeen 2019 early sign up is recommended, as spaces are limited. The registration fee remains at just £20 and Maggie’s request that everyone needs to try and raise at least £100 to help fund Maggie’s vital cancer support programme.

There are a number of sponsorship opportunities available. Maggie’s is also looking for volunteers to help with the Culture Crawl on the night and invite prospective volunteers to sign up here.
