The picturesque village of Braemar will transform into a winter wonderland this weekend as it hosts the annual Festival de Noel from Friday 12th to Sunday 14th December 2025.

The three-day celebration of Christmas promises something for everyone, with a packed programme of events across multiple venues in the village including St Margaret's, The Fife Arms, Highland Games Pavilion and Braemar Village Hall.

The festivities kick off on Friday with the Festival de Noel Dinner, a special culinary experience prepared by Fish Shop Ballater and served in the Highland Games Pavilion.

Saturday's programme offers a feast of activities, from hands-on Christmas wreath making and garland workshops to wine tasting experiences. The day culminates in the headline event – A Celebration of Christmas Concert at St Margaret's Church, featuring performances from Aberdeen City Music School, local musicians Ellie McLaren and David Frew, Kim Anderson and Kyle Willox, pupils from Braemar Primary School and the Wheesht! choir. The festive atmosphere continues into the evening with live music from Kim and Kyle at the renowned Fife Arms.

Sunday brings magical family moments with free horse and carriage rides throughout the day and the chance for children to meet Santa Claus. Visitors can browse the Christmas Fair in the Village Hall, sample delights at the Ghillie's Larder food market and Ghillie's Tipple drink market and enjoy further performances from Wheesht! Choir. The festival will conclude with a mulled wine finale with carols by members of the Simpson Singers on Sunday evening.

The festival welcomes locals, families and visitors of all ages to experience the warmth and charm of a traditional Highland Christmas. With a mix of free and ticketed events, there's something to suit every budget. Free parking is available throughout the village, including at the Highland Games Park.
