Aberdeen's shift to renewables is set to accelerate with a multimillion-pound investment to develop the city's Energy Transition Zone (ETZ).
The Press and Journal reports the UK Government will invest £17.3million to transform St Fittick’s Park and Doonies Farm into a green energy hub and speed up the city's transition to renewables.
Scottish Secretary Douglas Alexander will visit the Torry site this afternoon, and hopes the investment will help create skilled jobs and bring down energy costs.
The money will fund key infrastructure to support on-site offshore wind manufacturing and attract major clean energy firms to the North-east.
The investment, which will be delivered over the next three years, follows a separate £20million pledge from ETZ Ltd chairman Sir Ian Wood.
