CUT, Bridge of Don based cutting specialists, has completed its largest cuts of 2026.
The company cut all four Concrete Gravity Base Structure (CGBS) legs of an iconic UK Northern North Sea platform to allow future topside removal. The legs were 12 metres in diameter. CUT used its electric machine and coring equipment for “in-air” cutting. Specialist offshore personnel were provided, working in shifts. CUT applied the same methodology it had used previously on the Brent Delta, for topside removal.
Bruce Sinclair, Business Development Manager said “Our Engineering team constructed a bespoke cutting solution for this specific scope. The cutting methodology was meticulously planned prior to the offshore phase. On completion of the last cut on the last leg, our client provided us with a 10/10 Customer Satisfaction Report highlighting that we had delivered ahead of schedule and most importantly safely and incident free.”
So far in 2026 CUT has completed cuts of mooring chains, piles, offshore legs, pipes, umbilicals, risers, conductors, multi-strings, buoyancy tanks, windfarm cable protection systems, salvage operations, onshore and offshore projects, cutting in air, shallow waters and deepwater scopes. CUT has had live operations in every region of the world in 2026 and is currently recruiting for personnel to meet its growing order book.
