With summer now upon us, the warmer weeks to come, present a great opportunity to make a day of it and explore the region like never before. Discover new hobbies, your next favourite restaurant, and learn more about the proud heritage of Aberdeenshire in what will be a summer to remember.

Culture & Heritage

There are many tales to be discovered in Aberdeenshire that the region’s museums and historic landmarks tell so eloquently.

Stonehaven’s oldest building, The Tolbooth Museum, pulls visitors into its atmospheric 17th and 18th century cells where you can learn about the gaol’s engrossing history. Drift from the coast to the charming countryside and you’ll find an abundance of welcoming towns and villages, such as Mintlaw, where the award-winning Aberdeenshire Farming Museum resides. The museum illustrates the region’s significant past in agriculture.

As a local, you’re already in the right place if you want to explore ancient ruins and landmarks. A fine example of the North-east’s rich history is Delgatie Castle; built-in 1049, this landmark is steeped in lore and even welcomed a visit from Mary Queen of Scots.

Adventure & Activities

Although many of us live or work in Aberdeenshire, there is still so much we haven’t explored. As well as being the eastern gateway to the ever-breathtaking Cairngorms, Aberdeenshire is an excellent base for adventure activities.

One for the whole family, Inverurie’s Skyline Trampoline Park boasts 50 interconnected trampolines that make for a day of fun. You’ll also find a dodgeball court, climbing wall, onsite café and more.

Lochter Activity Centre, found in Oldmeldrum, offers the chance to enjoy archery, water zorbing, go-karting, and more.

Food & Drink

Aberdeenshire’s food and drink is among the world’s best – no matter where your day trip takes you, rest assured you’ll never be far from a great meal.

If you’re in Royal Deeside, then stop by Shorty’s Ice Cream Parlour in Ballater for some delicious sweet treats. If you find yourself in Banff, then don’t miss out on the Bridgeview Restaurant and Coffee Shop’s hearty homemade meals and snacks packed with locally sourced ingredients.
