  • Would you like to see things develop in your community?
  • Do you have an idea for a project, but aren’t sure how to make it happen?
  • Would you like to know more about the funding and resources available in Aberdeenshire to support your ideas?

Come along for a lively evening on Tuesday June 13 at the Station Hotel in Ellon to explore how you can make things happen in your community. This free event, which runs from 7pm until 9.15pm is a mix of inspirational case studies and practical workshop sessions to bring your ideas to life.

Community enterprise is run by a community, for the community, and you will hear from Lorna Summers, Director at Portsoy Community Enterprise (PCE) who will also be sharing her experience of a number of enterprising projects which have taken place in the town over the past ten years. These projects have been driven by enthusiastic and passionate volunteers and have had a significant impact on the community, keeping alive the ingrained heritage and cultures of the North-east of Scotland.

From an intended one off event to celebrate the 300th year of Portsoy’s harbour in 1993, the annual Scottish Traditional Boat Festival was born. In the years following, the organisation also added to its portfolio The Salmon Bothy, The Boatshed, Portsoy Links Caravan Park and The Sail Loft. Working collaboratively, the whole organisation is aimed at providing economic benefit from tourism for the town of Portsoy and surrounding area, with all of PCE’s assets belong to the community.

Duncan Leece from Boyndie Trust will also be compering the event, and giving an introductory welcome on ‘What is Community Enterprise?'.

Refreshments will be provided, and in order to get the maximum benefit from the workshop sessions, tables will be themed in order to share and explore related issues or ideas.
