Energy giant TotalEnergies is forecasting a $3billion (£2.25billion) boost to its cash position during the third quarter of 2026 due to soaring global demand for liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The French multinational expects a positive working capital contribution of approximately $3billion (£2.25billion), alongside a sharp rise in earnings from its LNG and refining operations.
Its integrated LNG business is set to benefit from a 20% increase in average selling prices compared with the previous quarter, alongside strong performance from gas and LNG trading activities.
The company attributed the surge to the prolonged conflict in the Strait of Hormuz and expectations of strong winter demand, which have driven up prices across international energy markets.
Average LNG selling prices reached $12.28 per million British thermal units during the quarter, compared with $10.20 in the preceding three months and $8.91 in the same period last year.
TotalEnergies is also forecasting exceptional cash flow from its refining and chemicals operations, with an increase of $2billion (£1.5billion) compared with the second quarter as it capitalises on historically high refining margins.
