UK-based oil and gas firm Enwell Energy has announced its gas processing facilities in Ukraine have been damaged in an attack by Russian military drones.

The incident happened on December 18 at Enwell's Vasyschevskoye gas and condensate field.

In an update issued to shareholders this morning, the company said: "The gas processing facilities were hit by several military drones, which resulted in significant damage to the facilities.

"The facilities had been mothballed since the reinstatement of the suspension of the VAS production licence on 27 February 2025, and consequently there were no active field operations at the field. As a consequence, there were only security staff on site, and very fortunately, there were no casualties as a result of the attack."

Enwell is now working closely with the Ukrainian emergency services and police, to ensure that the site is safe.

Following the completion of an inspection of the site for unexploded ordnance, the group has commenced assessing the damage to enable a plan to be prepared for the repair and restoration of the facilities.

Oleksiy Zayets, CEO, commented: "This is an extremely concerning and upsetting situation, with current indications of extensive damage to the gas processing facilities, but, we are, nevertheless, very relieved that there were no casualties among our staff on site."
