Aberdeen-based McGregor Glazing has been awarded the contract to replace the windows at the McDonald’s restaurant on Union Street, as part of wider refurbishment works taking place early in the new year.

The project, which also includes essential roof repairs, will see McGregor Glazing remove and replace the existing timber windows, many of which have deteriorated over time, to help restore the building’s historic frontage.

The McDonald’s building, a well-known landmark on Union Street, is one of the most recognisable properties in Aberdeen’s city centre and a highly visible part of the streetscape.

Managing Director Lisa Stewart said:

“We’re delighted to be involved in such a significant project on one of Aberdeen’s best-known streets.

As a local, family-run business, we take great pride in contributing to the improvement and preservation of the city centre’s buildings. Our team are looking forward to getting started.”

Work is due to begin in January 2026, with McGregor’s experienced team delivering the glazing element of the project.

McGregor Glazing provides domestic and commercial glazing services across the North East, including window replacements, glass repairs and bespoke door installations. The company has been proudly serving homeowners and businesses in Aberdeen for more than 30 years.
