McHardy Private Wealth has welcomed Richard Hemsley to the firm as senior financial planner, strengthening its presence in Aberdeenshire.

Richard joins McHardy Private Wealth from Buchanan Associates, based in Stonehaven, and brings many years of experience advising clients across the region. He will be working from McHardy’s Aberdeen office, supporting clients in Aberdeenshire as well as across Central Scotland.

Throughout his career, Richard has built long-standing relationships with clients and is known for his clear communication, thoughtful approach and strong personal values.

“Honesty and integrity are core values for me as an adviser,” Richard said. “If something isn’t right for a client, I’ll say that. I always think, if this was my parents or my family, would I be comfortable giving this advice?”

That approach aligns closely with McHardy Private Wealth’s philosophy, which places trust, independence and advice at its core.

Richard was drawn to McHardy Private Wealth’s independent client-focused approach and strong regional presence.

“With McHardy, I feel like I’m working for the client first and foremost,” he said. “My role is to find the best options for them and support them in making decisions that fit their lives.”

Andy Kerr, Managing Director at McHardy Private Wealth, said Richard’s appointment reflects the firm’s continued investment in experienced advisers with strong local knowledge and a focus on client care.

“Richard brings a depth of experience and a way of working that fits naturally with how we support our clients,” Andy said. “He understands the importance of trust, long-term relationships and clear advice. We’re delighted to welcome him to the team and to further strengthen our support for clients across Aberdeenshire and Central Scotland.”

Richard joins McHardy Private Wealth’s established Aberdeen team, where clients can work with an adviser they know locally, supported by the wider firm’s resources and independent advice proposition.

“Being able to spend time with clients, really understand what matters to them and support them over the long term is what good financial advice is about,” Richard added.
