Maritime Developments Ltd (MDL) has supported Saipem’s flexlay campaign in the deepwater Bouri field in the Mediterranean.
A complete MDL back-deck spread, consisting of a Generation 1 Reel Drive System, 2-track tensioner, an overboarding chute as well as a spooler and deck winches, was used for the installation of fibre optic cables and subsea isolation valve umbilicals off the Construction Support Vessel (CSV) Normand Sentinel.
Besides the enabling equipment, MDL also provided engineering services for vessel mobilisation, including sea-fastening design as well as manufacture of bespoke grillages and weld plates.
The project was part of the Bouri Gas Utilisation Project, aiming to recover and process gas from the Bouri oil field to reduce environmental emissions, boost natural gas production and improve supply to the European market via the Greenstream pipeline.
