Name: Kalpa Tan

Company: Kalpa Al Ltd

Job title: Founder & Director

Give us the elevator pitch for your business.

At Kalpa AI, everything starts with a conversation about your business. We want to understand your workflows, where the bottlenecks are, and what's actually limiting growth, in real detail. That conversation leads into an operational audit, where we map out the one process where AI could give you the biggest win. Because we work in the AI space every day, we know where it genuinely works and where it doesn't, so we cut through the noise and give you clear direction on exactly where it fits. Alongside that we offer training and workshops, so you and your team properly understand AI, not just how to use it. Then we start small and measured in that one area, so you get real, high impact results without the overwhelm.

Who are your customers?

We typically work with small to medium sized businesses, usually somewhere between two and twelve employees. Most know they should be using AI, they're just not confident about where it fits. They're growing, time poor and buried in admin, with key people stuck as the bottleneck. What they want is clarity on exactly where AI belongs in their business.

What is the biggest challenge and opportunity your organisation is facing right now?

The challenge isn't really the technology, it's the mindset. Many business owners still see AI as something to fear, rather than something that solves their biggest admin headaches. The opportunity is helping them make that shift, so they can embrace AI with confidence and use it to move their business forward.

What is your word of advice for fellow Chamber members?

Don't just embrace AI, take the time to understand your business first. Look at where the blind spots are, the areas AI could genuinely improve, before you start implementing anything. Start small. Pick one task that consumes time or slows customer response, and test AI there with real understanding, not guesswork. Measured, low risk improvements often reveal bigger gains you didn’t expect.

What is the best thing about being a Chamber member?

Being part of the Chamber is something we genuinely value. It connects us with a vibrant business community across the North-east of Scotland and opens the door to real conversations, meaningful collaborations and shared learning. It's where relationships are built and businesses support each other to grow.
