Give us the elevator pitch for your business.
SugarBird Wines likes to describe its two venues as ‘neighbourhood bars meet destination experience’. We’re all about that warm, welcoming atmosphere paired with exemplary customer service and a standout wine list that offers something different to anywhere else in the city.
Who are your customers?
We have a real mix of customers — some have been regulars since we first opened SugarBird Union Grove five years ago, and others have only just discovered us! Since opening our event spaces at SugarBird in the Gardens, our corporate network has really engaged with our concept, and we’ve loved helping create memorable events for their clients and partners.
What is the biggest challenge and opportunity your organisation is facing right
now?
Has there ever been a time when business hasn't faced challenges? It's part of what we do, and we meet them head on. Currently, the cost of living impacts many sectors, and hospitality is no exception, but we strive to deliver a service above and beyond expectations.
As an independent business, we have to shout out the hard work of other local businesses: mutual support creates a positive energy and will attract more people into the city centre...for the benefit of all.
What is your word of advice for fellow Chamber members?
Staying true to our ethos… try something new! A new spot for dinner, a new wine, or a new venue for your next event — expanding your options can only be a good thing.
What is the best thing about being a Chamber member?
We love being part of a network of businesses that are proud of our city, all collectively working together to continue making a difference.
