Multi-instrumentalist and singer Megan Henderson takes to the stage of St Margaret’s Braemar this Saturday (April 15) with her new trio, performing a versatile programme of original music.

The Fort William native is one of Scotland’s most well-respected performers and composers. Trained in classic violin at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, she has been the frontwoman of folk heavyweights Breabach for over a decade touring throughout the world.

Her new debut solo album Pilgrim Souls pushes musical boundaries, with energetic and beautiful arrangements straddling traditional and classical genres with a fresh, modern twist.

Her versatility and technical skill make Megan a much in demand session musician, performing and recording with artists including the Grit Orchestra, Salsa Celtica, Kim Carnie and Duncan Chisholm.

She is joined for this special concert by two other leading Scottish musicians Su-a Lee (cello/saw) and Alistair Iain Paterson (Piano/Harmonium).

Tickets are available from £13.50 for Friends of St Margaret’s and £8.50 for those aged 15 and under at stmargaretsbraemar.org.uk

Commenting ahead of Saturday’s concert, Venue Manager Lyndsey Boden said:

“Megan Henderson has wowed audiences at St Margaret’s before with her band Breabach.

“We’re delighted to welcome her back once again to showcase her own solo brand of truly beautiful music, joined by some of Scotland’s very best leading musicians.

“While there’s a great deal of familiarity in the musical tradition woven through these new arrangements, they represent a really fresh and imaginative sound — well suited to the exceptional acoustics within St Margaret’s.

“Whether you live locally or you’re visiting Deeside for the weekend, this Saturday’s concert is really not to be missed.”
