Meldrum House unveils new development

Despite the economic downturn in Aberdeen City and Shire, one of Scotland’s top luxury hotels has unveiled their latest £4.5million development.

Meldrum House Country Hotel and Golf Course, in Oldmeldrum has created a stunning new wing incorporating a new Ballroom and 28 new bedrooms. It has seamlessly combined a period building with a glass addition, heralding the latest in contemporary design and luxury.

General manager Peter Walker said “People have asked why we might do something of this level when things are so gloomy in the City. But we were always committed to this project. We have deliberately produced something at Meldrum House that will attract people to Aberdeenshire. We have big plans.”

Aberdeenshire’s newest Ballroom will hold up to 200 guests and boasts floor to ceiling windows with access straight out to the gardens. Many of the new bedrooms will have exceptional views to the hotel’s Parkland 18-hole golf course and miles of countryside beyond.

The award-winning hotel has also created a bigger dining room as well as a much larger Cave Bar, which will now be able to cater for casual diners. A Whisky Club will be launched later this year.

Commenting on the development, chief executive Andy Burgess said: “This development is a perfect addition to Meldrum House. It will double our bedroom capacity as well as giving us a banqueting suite that will be unrivalled for the area. With our world-class accommodation, coupled with the history of Meldrum House, we plan to market it to visitors all over the world as a luxury destination.”
