MHA Restructuring and Recovery Manager Zaneta Resiak has passed one of the most demanding professional exams in the insolvency field.

She successfully completed the Personal Insolvency paper of the Joint Insolvency Examination Board (JIEB) - one of two standalone papers candidates must pass to become a licensed insolvency practitioner. Zaneta is now preparing to sit the Corporate Insolvency paper in November.

Based in the Aberdeen office of accountancy and business advisory firm MHA, Zaneta oversees the day-to-day operation of the firm's insolvency department, supports colleagues, manages complex cases and helps businesses and individuals navigate financial challenges.

Her route into the profession has been anything but conventional. After completing a degree in sociology and psychology in Poland, she arrived in Scotland 20 years ago intending to stay for just three months before returning home to complete a master's degree.

Zaneta built a successful career in Aberdeen. After working in a variety of roles, including in the lettings sector, she joined the accountancy practice in an administration position in 2018. What began as a cashier role evolved into case administration, case management and ultimately a key role in the firm's Aberdeen restructuring and recovery team.

Zaneta said: "Passing the Personal Insolvency paper was a proud moment. The JIEB examinations are challenging and require a significant commitment alongside a full-time role.

"What I enjoy most about restructuring and recovery is that every case is different. You're constantly learning, solving problems and helping people through what can be a very difficult period in their lives. I've been fortunate to work with a supportive team at MHA that has encouraged my development and given me opportunities to take on more responsibility over the years."

As well as the Aberdeen insolvency team, MHA has restructuring and recovery specialists based in London and Manchester.

MHA, the UK member firm of Baker Tilly International, has more than 2,300 staff across 30 offices and was recently named among the FT's Top 100 UK Best Employers 2026.
