Sea-Cargo Aberdeen Limited has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Mike Simpson as commercial manager, a new role created to strengthen client relationships and drive growth across established and emerging markets.
Mike joins Sea-Cargo's Aberdeen-based team with over three decades of experience in logistics and client partnerships, most recently serving as chief operating officer of ARR Craib Transport.
With over 23 years of service with the company, he managed major client contracts across diverse sectors including food & drink, oil & gas and subsea, and leading teams to deliver service excellence, value and performance improvements.
Sea-Cargo has facilitated trade between Scotland and Norway for over 25 years from its modern integrated base at The Port of Aberdeen. The company offers a weekly liner service between Aberdeen and Norway on the MV Sea-Cargo Express, a multipurpose vessel offering ro-ro (roll on - roll off), container, pallet, conventional, heavy lift and through hatch capability.
In addition to seafreight, Sea-Cargo provides a range of port services, including stevedoring, warehousing, distribution and project logistics across Aberdeen's North and South Harbours.
Mike’s appointment aligns with Sea-Cargo’s commitment to delivering value and exploring new opportunities as the North-east navigates ongoing challenges from the Energy Profits Levy.
He said: "After a career in road transport, I'm delighted to join the Sea-Cargo team. I've been genuinely impressed by the people, vessels, lifting equipment and quayside and warehousing facilities. Sea-Cargo's capabilities are unique in the North-east, based on a commitment to safe and efficient operations. The range of services is remarkable - for example, providing terminal services to any vessel from a PSV right up to a 30m beam bulk carrier is hugely impressive. Most of all, I love the 'can do' attitude - it gives me confidence that we're building from a strong base."
Sea-Cargo's general manager Andrew Dolman added: "Mike's experience will be invaluable in supporting our commitment to delivering value to our clients and to identifying new business opportunities, particularly during such a challenging time for the North-east. We're delighted to have him on board."
