Marius Coste, Facilities Management Leader at Elior at Work and founder of the ongoing 82-week Miles of Smiles fundraising campaign, recently attended an exclusive preview of The Nook Aberdeen following an invitation from SAMH in recognition of the campaign’s support for the project.

Located at Unit F, Marischal Square, The Nook Aberdeen is the second hub within SAMH’s national network of walk-in community mental health support services. Opening on 17 June, the facility will provide free support seven days a week, with no appointment or referral required.

Designed for people aged 10 and above, The Nook will offer a range of services including talking therapies, self-help support, wellbeing activities, opportunities for social connection, and access to trained staff within a welcoming community environment.

The preview provided an opportunity to showcase the impact of collaborative efforts between charities, businesses, volunteers and local communities in improving access to mental health support across the Northeast.

Now in Week 53 of its 82-week journey, the Miles of Smiles campaign has engaged individuals, businesses, schools and community organisations through a wide range of fundraising and awareness-raising activities. The campaign continues to support initiatives that promote mental health, wellbeing and community connection.

Commenting on the visit, Marius said: “The opening of The Nook represents an important step forward for accessible mental health support in Aberdeen. It was a privilege to see the facility ahead of its launch and to witness the positive impact it is set to have on individuals, families and communities across the region.”

The Nook Aberdeen officially opens on 17 June and forms part of SAMH’s wider commitment to expanding accessible, community-based mental health support throughout Scotland.
