March 2026 has marked a significant milestone in the Miles of Smiles campaign - defined by meaningful partnerships, growing community engagement, and continued momentum across Scotland and beyond.

Over the past month, the campaign has connected with communities locally and internationally, including support from Rotary Cluj-Napoca Cetatuie in Romania. Across Scotland, a series of themed awareness runs and community moments - from Glasgow to Edinburgh - have helped spark conversations around mental health and wellbeing, while also supporting cancer care initiatives.

A particular highlight was the opportunity to speak live on SHMU Radio, sharing the purpose behind Miles of Smiles and reinforcing the importance of openness, connection, and early conversation around mental health.

Campaign Progress (since June 2025):

  • 2,680 kilometres completed
  • £3,017 raised to date (in addition to £7,000 raised previously for SAMH in 2021)
  • 208 cold showers completed
  • 46 cold water dips

Now at the halfway stage, the campaign is entering a crucial phase—focused on scaling impact, deepening partnerships, and expanding reach across the North-East business community.

Why It Matters

Mental health and wellbeing continue to be critical priorities across all sectors. Supporting initiatives such as Miles of Smiles enables businesses to champion employee wellbeing, strengthen community connections, demonstrate meaningful social value, and align with a positive, purpose-driven initiative.

As the campaign progresses into its second half, there is a clear opportunity for the business community to play an active role in driving awareness, inspiring action, and supporting vital services across mental health and cancer care.
