Late February can be one of the most challenging points in the calendar. The darker mornings, winter fatigue and ongoing pressures in both personal and professional life can significantly impact wellbeing.
In Week 38 of the Miles of Smiles – 82 Weeks of Action campaign, Marius Coste, Group Manager at Elior UK, took to the streets of Glasgow in a light-hearted inflatable motorbike outfit to spark conversation, connection and much-needed smiles.
While the approach was creative, the purpose remains serious:
- Raising awareness of mental health challenges
- Supporting individuals and families affected by cancer
- Encouraging open conversations around wellbeing
Since launching in June 2025, the campaign has achieved:
- 2,427 kilometres completed
- £2,982 raised in support of Scottish Association for Mental Health and Clan Cancer Support
- 190 cold showers and 42 cold-water dips, symbolising resilience and commitment
The initiative reflects a wider message for the North-east business community: workplace culture matters. When leaders visibly support wellbeing, it encourages openness, reduces stigma, and strengthens teams.
A Call to Action for North-east Businesses
Miles of Smiles is inviting organisations across Aberdeen and Grampian to get involved and help amplify the impact.
Businesses can support by:
- Donating raffle prizes for upcoming fundraising events
- Making a direct financial contribution
- Inviting Marius to attend or participate in your family fun run, community day or corporate wellbeing event
- Sponsoring or donating a themed costume - with a social media shout-out to your organisation (currently generating over 140,000 impressions across LinkedIn and Instagram)
Partnership is about more than fundraising - it is about visibly championing wellbeing within our region and demonstrating that the North-east business community stands together.
Week 38 complete. The mission continues.
Together, we can build a resilient, compassionate and proactive business community across Aberdeen and Grampian.
