Mint Accounting, one of Scotland’s fastest-growing cloud accounting consultants, has been named Small Accountancy Firm of the Year 2015 at the Business Insider and Aldermore Scottish Accountancy and Finance Awards, recently held at the Glasgow Hilton Hotel.

The company, which has offices in Dundee, Ayrshire and Aberdeen, surpassed stiff competition from Consilium’s Glasgow office, Aberdeen-based Infinity Partnership and Stark Main & Co Ltd, which has offices in Edinburgh and Selkirk, to bring home the award for a second time.

Charlotte Gillett, commercial director for Mint Accounting, comments, “We are absolutely honoured to pick up this award, especially considering the competition we faced this year. To even qualify for this accolade, it takes a considerable dedication to innovation, driven leadership and a special commitment to the local community each year. We are in the privileged position to have won the same award in 2013 and been shortlisted last year, but to have won again this year is just amazing. This also comes in quick succession of our award for Scottish Accounting Partner of the Year at the UK 2015 Xero Awards in February, so we couldn’t be happier.

“At Mint, we believe the secret to our success is taking a fresh approach to accountancy. During the past twelve months our business has continued to progress to offer our clients the best and most convenient accountancy services, including a concentrated effort on cloud-based accounting technology. We have become one of the first businesses in our area to really drive this forward due to its exceptional benefits, such as, convenient accountancy control and increased visibility of important day-to-day financial activity.

“At the same time, our team has been really busy sharing our knowledge and advice with business startups and the younger generation. This has seen us hold workshops and mentorship sessions in schools, colleges and universities, as well as within our local communities. It’s been really important to us as a business for a few reasons, but particularly because many people view accountancy as a dull or overly complicated subject. Through our mentorship we have been showing that it really doesn’t have to be. It has a huge role to play in daily life and by making it simple, understandable and accessible we hope to bring a fresh and modern approach to a traditional sector.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank our teams across the country for their continued commitment, and to our clients for their ongoing support. We wouldn’t be picking up these awards without them.”

Mint Accounting is also currently Scotland’s largest Xero partner.
