ModuSpec has secured a number of shipyard-based rig intake and inspection projects to support existing and new clients in the North Sea. The projects include one semi-submersible drilling rig, and two jack-up drilling rigs.
A team has been active in the Invergordon shipyard to verify readiness of a cyber-based jack-up from warm stack, to be ready for a one well contract starting in September. The team assessed readiness of the rig equipment and robustness and compliance of the contractor management systems, including health, safety environmental and crew competency.
A separate team is being prepared to travel to Denmark to commence a multi-stage intake process of a cyber-based jack-up which has been contracted for 12 months (with options) to undertake development and exploration wells offshore The Netherlands. The rig has recently been operational, and the intake will focus on compliance of equipment certification, condition of key equipment including the blow out preventer (BOP) stack and crew awareness of the contractor management systems.
In Norway, a multi-discipline team of ModuSpec surveyors is supporting the acceptance of a 4th generation harsh environment semi-submersible for operations in the UKCS. The rig has undergone a period of maintenance and equipment recertification including drill floor equipment and the BOP. Prior to commencement of contract, a team will witness commissioning of the equipment including subsea deployment of the BOP.
Mark Watson, operations director with ModuSpec, said: “We are proud to have ModuSpec teams deployed to various shipyards around the North Sea, actively supporting clients as they prepare for upcoming operations. Each scope of work has been carefully customised to meet specific client requirements - this is far more than a tick box exercise. Our technical teams have collaborated closely with clients to define what truly adds value during the intake process.”
