Rosemount pilates studio could open in closed office

Over in Rosemount, a new pilates studio could soon be opening up in a former office.

Leadside House appears to be one of the latest projects undertaken by Aberdeen’s City Restoration Project developers. The 120-year-old building has had the Georgian Dress Hire kilt shop on the ground floor since 1990, but unused space upstairs.

Papers sent to Aberdeen City Council state there is “consistently growing demand” for sessions. The studio would accommodate up to 10 participants, with slots booked online.

Boeing jet workers to strike for first time in nearly 30 years

Union members who assemble Boeing’s fighter jets in the St Louis area have rejected the aircraft maker’s latest contract offer and will go out on strike at midnight on Monday, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers union said.

The move is bad news for Boeing, amplifying financial pressure on its defence and space division, which accounted for about 30% of revenue in the second quarter.

It will be the first time in nearly 30 years that Boeing’s defence union will halt work at its St Louis-area factories. Its original proposal included a 20% general wage increase over four years and a $5,000 ratification bonus, as well as more vacation time and sick leave.

Dubai ruler installed solar panels ‘without planning permission’

Dubai’s billionaire ruler has installed solar panels on his lavish Scottish estate without planning permission.

Representatives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum claim that he secretly introduced the green technology on his 63,000-acre Inverinate Estate to improve its “sustainability performance”.

The estate, in Wester Ross, overlooks Loch Duich, a conservation area that is home to protected species including Eurasian otters, pipistrelle bats and European hedgehogs.
