BREAKING: BBC Scotland HQ evacuated after fire breaks out

BBC Scotland headquarters in Glasgow has been evacuated after a fire broke out.

It is understood it happened in a plant room on the fifth floor of the Pacific Quay building at roof level. All staff left the building beside the River Clyde when a fire alarm sounded at about 06:30.

BBC Radio Scotland Breakfast was taken off air, switching to pre-recorded music and breakfast television news bulletins from Scotland were suspended.

Opening date announced for Durty Murphy’s in Aberdeen as first pictures revealed

Aberdeen’s newest Irish pub, Durty Murphy’s, has just announced its opening date.

Big Manny’s Pizza bosses have announced the successor to McGinty’s on Union Street will be open to customers from today, December 1.

It comes after a shock announcement on Sunday night which showed the first images of the new bar.

Flights returning to normal after Airbus warning grounded planes

Thousands of Airbus planes are returning to normal service after being briefly grounded following a warning that solar radiation could interfere with onboard computers.

The aerospace giant - based in France - said about 6,000 of its A320 planes had been affected, with most requiring a quick software update. Some 900 older planes need a replacement computer.

On Saturday, French Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot said the updates "went very smoothly" for more than 5,000 planes, and fewer than 100 still needed the update.

New party founded by Corbyn and Sultana adopts Your Party as name

The new left-wing political party founded by Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana has voted to be named Your Party - the placeholder name it has used for months.

It has used the slogan "This is Your Party" since its launch in July, but gave members the final choice on the name from a shortlist of four at the party's founding conference in Liverpool on Sunday.

The party also opted to be led by ordinary members rather than a single leader - avoiding a potentially explosive leadership race between Sultana and Corbyn.

'Rage bait' named Oxford word of the year 2025

Do you find yourself getting increasingly irate while scrolling through your social media feed?

If so, you may be falling victim to rage bait, which Oxford University Press has named its word or phrase of the year.

It is a term that describes manipulative tactics used to drive engagement online, with usage of it increasing threefold in the last 12 months, according to the dictionary publisher.
