River Island plans to close 33 shops in the UK in a move which puts hundreds of jobs at risk.
The clothing retailer said more people shopping online and higher costs to run stores were behind its proposals to creditors.
It also wants its landlords to cut rents at a further 71 stores which are at risk.

FedEx founder and former boss Fred Smith dies aged 80
Fred Smith, founder of the US parcel delivery giant Federal Express, has died at the age of 80, the company has announced.
Mr Smith founded the firm in 1973 having previously served in the US Marine Corps. He ran the company as CEO until 2022.
"Fred was more than just the pioneer of an industry and the founder of our great company. He was the heart and soul of FedEx," current boss Raj Subramaniam wrote in a memo to staff.

SNP feels ‘betrayal’ as Fergus Ewing plans election bid against his former office worker
Fergus Ewing’s audacious bid to stand for election against his SNP group colleagues feels like a “betrayal”, according to the MSP he’ll now face at the ballot box.
Emma Roddick used to work for Mr Ewing before entering the Scottish Parliament in 2021 to represent the Highlands and Islands region.
And in May next year, she will have to beat him to hold the Inverness and Nairn constituency for the SNP.

Tony Blair to help Scottish Labour beat SNP
Sir Tony Blair has been enlisted to help Scottish Labour oust the SNP from power in next year’s Holyrood election.
The former prime minister’s Institute for Global Change has been asked to help the party develop new health policies.
They have been earmarked for Scottish Labour’s manifesto for next May’s Holyrood election, with the SNP’s record on running the NHS expected to be one of the key issues.
