A Moray entrepreneur has taught AI to speak Aberdonian, launching virtual receptionists to handle calls for busy tradesmen in local dialects.
Dru McPherson’s tech start-up, Whoza.ai, allows tradespeople to set up an AI-based call handling system that both understands and speaks local accents.
Users can choose from more than 40 Scottish dialects, including Aberdonian.
Speaking to The Press and Journal, Dru said: “Most AI receptionists are built in California and fall over the moment someone rings from Glasgow with a diesel engine running behind them.
“We spent most of our engineering time on that specific problem – understanding a broad Scottish accent on a bad line from a building site.”
