Taking place last week (Thursday, September 19) at P&J Live, Aberdeen’s only dedicated QHSE event, The Safety Expo, welcomed more than 600 registrants and showcased 54 local businesses, officially making it the largest and most successful event to date for organisers, XIC.
This year’s event drew a diverse range of safety and procurement professionals from various sectors, who had the opportunity to get hands-on experience with the latest equipment during live demonstrations and explore new technologies that have the potential to reshape safety strategies.
Acting as a hub for innovation, exhibitors unveiled their latest products and services, ranging from training opportunities, workwear and PPE, safety literature, and QHSE equipment. This offered attendees the chance to see how local organisations can compete with global brands and discover the benefits of partnering with businesses in the region.
Bringing an educational element to the day, the event featured a programme of industry-leading speakers who covered topics such as fatigue management, human factors and errors in operations, the importance of confidence in competence, financial risks, and enhancing safety while reducing costs.
The 2024 speaker line-up featured Emma Cook of Purely Balanced, Grant Wallace of Salos Sunesis, Alan Smith of COMET, Charlie Cameron of AquaTerra Training, David Jamieson of Salus Technical, and Megan Hine of Dräger.
Prioritising networking, attendees were able to discuss common challenges and key industry themes from the speaker presentations, fostering collaborative solutions.
Jason Moir, organiser of The Safety Expo, commented: “We’re thrilled by the turnout at this year’s event. Last year marked our first step up to this scale, and we took on board all the feedback from attendees and exhibitors to ensure this year’s expo maximised both business development opportunities and the educational value of the speaker programme.
“I’d like to extend a huge thank you to everyone involved in the organisation, as well as to our sponsors, exhibitors, speakers, and attendees, who brought an incredible energy to the event and made the most of the day.”
The Safety Expo 2024 was sponsored by AquaTerra Training Ltd, Boskalis, Odfjell Technology, CNOOC, NSL (part of ASCOWORLD).
