The majority warn the windfall tax is driving investment, skills and jobs out of the north-east at a pivotal moment for the region’s energy transition.
Several members argue the levy is undermining both oil and gas and the emerging low-carbon sector.
A number of senior industry voices — including Bob Keiller, Nick Dalgarno, Bob Ruddiman, Jeff Corray, Michael Love and climate-tech entrepreneur Steve Gray — want the EPL scrapped entirely.
Mr Gray said the exodus of “talent, capability and capital is accelerating”, warning: “If the EPL remains, it will be the moment the UK’s domestic energy transition failed.”
