Plans are progressing for the construction of a multi-billion-pound data centre in Aberdeenshire - creating thousands of jobs.

The proposed development covers 200 acres of land at Blackdog and is designed to attract significant international investment, The Press and Journal reports.

It could create as many as 1,000 jobs during the construction process, with 100 permanent highly skilled roles and up to 2,000 indirect positions.

The first phase of the project, which will include an initial 600 megawatts of renewable and grid-connected power, has been approved by Aberdeenshire Council.

It is hoped work on the development, backed by Ashfield Land and data centre specialist TechRE, can begin later this year.
