Disgraced former SNP Chief Executive Peter Murrell has had his Legal Aid support withdrawn after more details of his financial circumstances came to light.
Murrell, Nicola Sturgeon's ex husband, was jailed in June for five years after admitting embezzling more than £400,000 from the political party.
Now, the Scottish Legal Aid Board (SLAB) has confirmed it has ceased providing funds for Murrell's legal costs, The Scotsman reports.
It comes after questions were raised over Murrell's receipt of Legal Aid - which helps fund legal defence for those unable to pay themselves - from the public purse despite having a number of income sources.
Murrell's initial application for Legal Aid, which is judged on salary, money in bank accounts and investments, was granted in April 2025.
The Scotsman reports Murrell and his solicitor were informed on July 28 that Legal Aid was being terminated, with £4,831 for Murrell’s lawyers having already been provided.
Confiscation proceedings to recover the embezzled money are still ongoing.
