Music at the Stocket Concert Series has released the Spring and Summer programme for 2024.

Taking place once per month in the Sanctuary at Fountainhall at the Stocket (Harcourt Road), the Music at The Stocket recitals are a series of music performances that showcase local talent and raise funds for local charities. Entry is by donation in aid of the chosen charity.

The first recital announced is “An Hour with Eileen Pike and Yvonne Morton” that will take place on Sunday, April 14 in the sanctuary at Fountainhall at the Stocket at 3 pm. The popular duo (pianist/soloist) will present a light-hearted programme of well-known songs, with expertise and humour.

All the proceeds from the concert in April will be donated to Instant Neighbour, currently celebrating 40 years helping vulnerable members of the community. As a worryingly increasing number of families in the North-east are struggling to make ends meet, the pressure on the Instant Neighbour Food Bank to provide essential food and household items for these families in need is increasing.

To help them ‘fill the shelves’ and continuing the long-term close collaboration between Fountainhall Church and Instant Neighbour, entry to the April concert will be by a cash donation or by bringing a bag/tin of groceries, large or small.

Next month and to mark the start of the Christian Aid Week in May, Fountainhall will hold another Music at the Stocket series concert on Sunday, May 12 at 3 pm. This time, James G R Campbell, organist at the Stocket, will give an organ recital in the sanctuary. Entry will be by donation in aid of Christian Aid, a charity who fights global poverty with projects in Africa and the Middle East amongst others.

On Saturday, June 15, and searching a more intimate atmosphere, Robert Duncan, a Music at the Stocket favourite, will present a piano recital in the Garden Lounge, instead of the sanctuary, at 3 pm, playing music by George Gershwin, Hoagy Carmichael, Irving Berlin and others.

Entry will be by donation in aid of AIMS (Aberdeen Independent Multiple Sclerosis). The outstanding acoustic of the sanctuary and the facilities at Fountainhall at the Stocket attracts numerous artists to perform in this space throughout the year.

Fountainhall at the Stocket is part of the newly founded Fountainhall Church, which was born in 2023 from the merge of four churches at the heart of the West End of Aberdeen. With three different venues in the area (in Beaconsfield Place, in Albyn Place and in Harcourt Road), Fountainhall Church offers a diverse range of spaces to hire for formal and informal events, from professional spaces to hire for business meetings to spacious halls with an exceptional acoustic suitable for big cultural events or gatherings.

The fully AV equipped, flexible spaces at Fountainhall Church can accommodate groups from four people up to 400 people. For more information, visit the website www.fountainhallchurch.org.uk, the Facebook page facebook.com/fountainhallchurch, or contact bookings@fountainhallchurch.org.uk
