A new publication focused on health, equality, and social responsibility has been launched in Aberdeen this month.

Echoing the stories that matter

Influence Magazine, created by the registered Scottish charity. Influence, dedicated to raising awareness and promoting the principles of the Equality Act 2010, focuses on amplifying voices, sharing stories, and fostering a more inclusive community.

Influence Manager, Dr Abiola Abimbola, PhD, says: “This platform amplifies real voices—patients, families, and frontline workers—while offering organisations the tools to respond with integrity. Our aim is to build understanding between communities and businesses on the issues that matter.”

Published digitally and distributed across the UK, its debut edition focuses on health, featuring investigative stories on the UK care home crisis, smoking cessation in the workplace, and stigma around sexual health.

Courageous accounts that inspire change

Among the standout features in the first edition are:

Male Factor Infertility: A rarely discussed issue, this article shares the voices of men and couples dealing with male factor infertility. It explores how stigma and silence impact men’s emotional wellbeing and emphasises the importance of breaking down harmful taboos around masculinity and reproductive health.

A Breath of Freedom: One Man’s Journey to Quit Smoking in Aberdeen

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS): A frank exploration of life with PCOS, describing its physical and emotional toll. The piece calls for better support systems and more inclusive, gender-sensitive health education.

Unseen Scars: A Story of Three Women Fighting STDs in Aberdeen

A platform for progress and advocacy

In addition to its editorial work, Influence Charity has introduced a secure, anonymous Whistleblowing Platform for NHS Grampian and local care homes. The platform allows staff and families to report equality concerns and abuse, addressing a gap in current safeguarding measures.

The magazine invites article contributions from all sectors to support conversations on workplace safety, equality, and inclusion.
