Benches have been unveiled at two Cala Homes developments in Aberdeen in memory of a colleague who passed away after a cancer diagnosis.

Brian Jamieson, affectionately known as BJ, was a site manager for Cala and had worked for the housebuilder for more than ten years before his passing.

The benches have been installed at the Southbank by Cala and Craibstone Estate developments in Aberdeen.

Steve Jarvie, construction director said: “BJ was kind-hearted, generous, always smiling, full of fun and mischief and is sorely missed since his passing in 2023.

“He was liked and respected universally by colleagues, customers and our external partners and was a huge presence within the Cala team.

“Appointed as assistant site manager, before achieving his ambition of becoming a site manager, BJ played an integral role in bringing many of our communities to life and we wanted to install a lasting memorial to him and have a quiet space people can come to remember him.”

BJ’s brother, Roger Jamieson and his family attended a small gathering at Southbank by Cala to mark the installation of the benches.

Roger said: “BJ is very much missed by family and friends but has left us with lots of happy memories. He spent a lot of time with his nieces and nephews, always on sidelines at their football matches and often helping with the school and college run.

“For many years before his own diagnosis, BJ fundraised more than £30,000 for various charities, with Friends of Anchor one he supported often.

“The charity was subsequently a great support to him and helped him throughout his illness which we are grateful for.”

Outside of his work at Cala, BJ could often be found enjoying a pint at the Learney Arms in Torphins and the Stag in Banchory. He enjoyed playing golf, darts and pool, and in his younger days was a goalie for local football teams.
