New Dundee business event hailed as success

A brand-new business event for Dundee and Angus has been hailed as a resounding success.

Dundee’s Invercarse Hotel was the venue for the inaugural Dundee & Angus Expo on Wednesday, February 27and attracted more than 300 participants and 50 exhibiting businesses operating in – and with links to – the area.

Hosted by Aberdeen-based Granite PR, Dundee & Angus Expo drew on the tried and tested formula of Granite Expo, which has been running for the past eight years. Among the other highlights on offer were plentiful opportunities for knowledge sharing and cross-selling, business seminars, and a networking breakfast sponsored by financial services organisation Mattioli Woods.

Mattioli Woods, senior employee benefits consultant, Anne Lawson, who addressed the event, said: “We very much see Dundee as a vibrant and diverse business community, which is starting to face some of the challenges around recruiting the talent they need to take their businesses to the next level.

“Getting people to Dundee and offering them a quality job is a challenge but, once they get here and experience the quality of life, they’re sold on what the city has to offer.”

She added: “For us, it’s about engaging with businesses and helping them to promote themselves as innovative and dynamic in a way that reflects Dundee’s personality. Events such as this help to bring down barriers and open peoples’ eyes to what’s happening at a grass-roots level in Dundee and Angus.”

Brett Jackson, Dundee & Angus Expo, creator and Granite PR, managing director and event creator said: “To exceed our exhibitor target in year one clearly demonstrates the appetite that exists for events such as this. We hope the creation of this new forum will provide an important springboard that businesses can use to help achieve their growth ambitions.”

The competition for the best stand was won by Carnoustie Distillery.
