Marine technology company, Seall has signed a partnership deal with Intermarine Electronics to provide the software for their new range of ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display and Information System) products.

A first for the Aberdeen-based company, Seall’s partnership with the Greek marine electronics firm sees them expand their solutions globally, as well as growing their existing footprints within the Turkish and Cypriot markets.

Intermarine, which is headquartered in Pireaus, Greece, develops, builds and supplies marine electronics equipment to a large range of shipping and ship management companies, as well as private and governmental organisations, fishing boats and large offshore operators. While they have marketed an ECDIS system for a number of years, and design and produce all of their hardware in house, they were keen to update this with the latest software technology to create a new product that would be more cost-effective and therefore accessible to all.

Seall’s team of software and IT specialists apply intuitive technology to simplify and streamline the way data is displayed, used, and shared from shore-to-ship-to-shore. Their IMO (International Maritime Organisation) approved ECDIS is one of the first marine software systems to include a multi-touch screen interface, making it one of the simplest ECDIS systems to operate on the market.

Barry Booth, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of Seall stated, “While ECDIS is currently a requirement for SOLAS vessels of 500GT and over, the technology is also very much in demand among smaller vessels too. Our ECDIS system is not only fully compliant and user-friendly; it is also the first on the market to offer such cutting-edge technology at a cost-effective price-point, making it more accessible to vessels of all sizes.

“As such, this partnership reflects our vision to continuously drive efficiency and safety improvements in marine navigation, ensuring that a wider range of customers across an ever-growing geographical reach can access our technology to enhance the safety of those at sea.

“It’s testament to both the skills of our team, and the advanced nature of our technology, that Intermarine have selected Seall as the software partner to upgrade their current ECDIS.”

Intermarine Electronics will be stocking the first 25 ECDIS systems with the new SEALL software next month.

Ioannidis Panagiotis, Commercial Director, commented, “We are delighted to partner with Seall, as they are a highly regarded technical marine software company, with the expertise and excellent technical support we seek in any partner. Their software is easy-to-use and robust, and we were particularly attracted by the touch screen technology. We look forward to a long-term partnership as we roll-out our systems globally.”
