Home-Start Aberdeen has celebrated a major milestone, with its charity shop generating £105,086 in annual sales revenue.
The figure, which includes Gift Aid, represents a significant achievement for the local charity and reflects the impact of its relocated and refurbished shop on George Street.
The charity shop plays a vital role in supporting Home-Start Aberdeen’s work with families across the city, providing multiple benefits to the community, offering affordable, good-quality items, reducing waste and creating employment and volunteering opportunities while generating essential income to fund its family support services.
Cameron McCready, Chief Executive of Home-Start Aberdeen, shared: “Reaching over one hundred thousand in annual sales in financial year 2025 - 2026 is a fantastic milestone for us and something we’re incredibly proud of. It’s a real testament to the hard work of our staff, volunteers, the generosity of those who donate items and the support of the local community who choose to shop with us.
“The move to our new premises has certainly made a significant difference. It has created a more welcoming, accessible space that people want to visit and shop in. It’s helped us grow our income enabling us to support more families who need our help.
“All money raised through the shop goes directly back into supporting local families with young children. At a time when many are facing increasing financial pressures, being able to offer affordable items while also funding vital support services makes the shop an incredibly important part of what we do.”
The relocated George Street shop has already demonstrated its impact, attracting strong footfall and positive feedback from customers since opening last November. The milestone highlights the growing role of charity retail in supporting organisations financially and in promoting sustainability through the reuse of quality goods.
Home-Start Aberdeen has been supporting families in the city for over 35 years, working alongside parents to help them build confidence, reduce isolation and create stable, nurturing home environments for their children.
