GB Tarpaulins has entered a new chapter after Szymon and Sophie Burzynski completed the buyout of the family business from Szymon’s parents.
The Aberdeen-based company, which supplies bespoke tarpaulins, covers, bags, repairs and cargo securing equipment, will now be led by the next generation as Szymon, who has been central to growing the business, takes full ownership alongside wife Sophie to lead its next chapter.
GB Tarpaulins works with customers across a range of sectors, including oil, gas and renewables, agriculture, logistics and transport, providing practical solutions designed to protect equipment, materials and assets in challenging working environments.
The move marks an important milestone for the business, allowing it to remain family-run and locally owned while bringing fresh energy and ambition to its next stage of growth.
Szymon said: “Taking over the business from my parents is a proud moment for both of us. I’ve put a lot into building GB Tarpaulins to where it is today, and now having Sophie join me in taking full ownership feels like the right next step. We want to honour what’s been built while putting our own stamp on the company going forward.
“The business has strong foundations, loyal customers and a reputation for practical, reliable work. Our focus now is to keep that going, while looking at how we can grow and develop in the years ahead.”
Sophie added: “This is a big step, but it’s also a really exciting one. GB Tarpaulins has always been about helping customers find the right solution, whether that’s a bespoke cover, a repair, or something completely custom.
“We’re looking forward to continuing those relationships and building new ones as we take the business forward.”
The buyout keeps GB Tarpaulins firmly within the family, with Szymon and Sophie aiming to build on the company’s established reputation while developing its presence across Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and the wider UK.
