NHS Grampian Charity has launched a funding programme to support projects which make a lasting difference to the health and wellbeing of people across Grampian.

The charity’s Lasting Impact Programme brings together its external funding opportunities under one banner, with more than £2.3 million available this year for community, research, and large-scale health and wellbeing projects.

The programme has been developed to support projects which deliver long-term benefits to patients, families and communities across Grampian, and it offers three funding strands: the Lasting Impact Large Grants Programme, the Lasting Impact Small Research Grants Programme, and the Lasting Impact Small Community Grants Programme.

NHS Grampian Charity, which is the official charity of NHS Grampian, also funds projects within hospitals across Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray, and awarded more than £7.3 million to almost 500 projects in 2025-26.

Dennis Robertson, Chair of NHS Grampian Charity Committee, says, “Through the Lasting Impact Programme, we want to support projects which do more than meet an immediate need. This will help create long-term, meaningful change for people across Grampian.

“This programme brings our external funding opportunities together with a clear focus on lasting impact, whether that is through community-led support, early-stage research, or large projects with the potential to transform health and wellbeing.

“We are proud to make more than £2.3 million available this year, and we look forward to working with partners across the region to support projects which can make a real and lasting difference for NHS Grampian patients, families and communities.”

The Large Grants Programme is the charity’s newest funding strand, and is designed to support ambitious projects which aim to create lasting impact for the people of Grampian. It will offer up to three years of funding with no upper financial limit, and will be open to local charities, community groups, NHS Grampian services, and Grampian university researchers. The programme is expected to open to applicants in mid-October.

The Small Research Grants Programme will provide seed-funding to support pilot or preliminary research studies which aim to have a lasting impact on the health and wellbeing of the people of Grampian. Grants of up to £20,000 will be available to applicants from NHS Grampian and from Grampian universities when the programme opens in August.

The Small Community Grants Programme, which offers grants of up to £10,000 to help local charities and community groups deliver health and wellbeing projects in Grampian, opens today.

This programme builds on the success of the charity’s previous Community Grants Programme, which has awarded more than £1.1 million to more than 150 local projects since its launch in 2020.

Lisa Duthie, Charity Lead at NHS Grampian Charity, says, “We know that some of the most powerful support happens in local communities, delivered by organisations who understand the people they work with and the challenges they face, and we are excited to launch our funding opportunities by opening our Small Community Grants Programme today to support these initiatives.

“This programme is designed to help local charities and community groups bring their ideas to life, whether that means buying new equipment, testing a new approach, or delivering activities which help people feel healthier and happier.

“Since our community grants were first launched, we’ve seen the incredible difference they can make, and we’re excited to continue supporting some of the incredible charities and organisations who are working hard across Grampian to improve health and wellbeing in practical, compassionate, and meaningful ways.”
