“Pretty Woman will give us all another healthy dose of 90s nostalgia in the best way and the big nights out don’t stop there with our hugely popular one night shows, A Night at the Musicals and Girls Night Oot making a return for 2026.

Sharon added: “For our younger audiences, we are delighted to be bringing their favourite televisions stars to the city for CBeebies Live, and of course Scottish Opera’s beautiful production of Madama Butterfly will bring pure class and talent for our opera fans.”

Thirty years on from the film that changed everything, and following its world premiere in London's West End, Trainspotting the Musical, written by Irvine Welsh (adapted from his best-selling debut novel) and directed and developed by Caroline Jay Ranger. will embark on a major UK tour coming to HMT from January 11 to 16, 2027.

In 1996 Trainspotting was released and became the biggest grossing UK film of the year taking over $76 million worldwide and won a slew of awards including a BAFTA for Best

Screenplay. In 1999 it was ranked 10th in the British Film Institute’s ‘Top 100 Greatest British Films of the 20th Century’.

Now, three decades later, the industrial drug crazed working-class heroes of British youth culture are back, live on stage: Renton, Sick Boy, Begbie, Spud, Tommy and Kelly. Renton (played in the film by Ewan McGregor) will be played on stage by 26-year-old Scottish actor Robbie Scott. He will be joined by fellow Scots actors Sheridan Townsley as Sick Boy, Kieran Andrew as Spud, Frankie O'Connor as Begbie, Finlay Paul as Tommy, Rebecca McKinnis as Cathy Renton, Gordon Cooper as Davie Renton, Ashley J. Russell as Colleen, Rosie Dignan as Alison, Yana Harris as Kelly, and Sophie Hutchinson as Lizzie. The ensemble comprises

Ally Kennard, Kieran Brown, Melanie Marshall, Lewis Kidd, Samuel Stewart, Finlay McKillop, Ciara Ennis, Victoria Nicol, Kyra Fyvie, and Chris O'Mara.

Irvine Welsh said: “I believe the musical has a bigger, loudly beating human heart than either the book or the film. People need to think about the world we’re living in, and we offer that inspection, but they also need to sing their hearts out and laugh their heads off. It’s what being human is all about. We’ve put together an incredible Scottish cast and I can’t wait to see them bring the musical to life.”

Pretty Woman promises a big night out when it visits the city theatre from October 12 to 16, 2027.

It’s time to head to Beverly Hills and experience one of Hollywood’s most iconic romantic comedies of all time as the production takes to the road again in 2027 following a record-breaking run in the West End and a sell-out first UK tour in 2023.

Vivian and Edward are unlikely soulmates who overcome all odds to find each other… and themselves. Experience the moments you love from the movie - and get to know these iconic characters in a whole new way - in this dazzlingly joyous love story for the ages.

Featured in the musical is Roy Orbison and Bill Dee’s international smash hit song ‘Oh, Pretty Woman’ which inspired one of the most beloved romantic comedy films of all time. Pretty Woman the film was an international smash hit when it was released in 1990.

Scottish Opera’s Madama Butterfly, a new co-production with Irish National Opera, comes to His Majesty’s on June 17 and June 19, 2026.

When the young Cio-Cio-San marries the handsome US Navy Lieutenant Benjamin Franklin Pinkerton, she gives up everything – after all, he has promised her a new life, and the warnings of her nearest and dearest seem trivial in the face of true love. Years later, she waits eagerly for his return and to introduce him to his son, but his arrival leads only to tragedy.

Puccini’s Madama Butterfly has moved audiences to tears for over a century, asking them to accept that Cio-Cio-San’s suffering is beautiful; that Pinkerton’s betrayal is inevitable; that a woman’s destruction is the price of a meaningful story. But this ‘Butterfly for the ages’ (The Arts Desk) refuses this bargain. The opera is reimagined as a journey through memory and identity by director Daisy Evans and designer Kat Heath (both Albert Herring 2024), with ‘stunning’ lighting by Jake Wiltshire and costumes by Catherine Fay. In their hands, Madama Butterfly becomes urgent and human – a meditation on what we inherit, what we conceal, and what it costs when the truth is finally brought to light.

Coming to Scotland after a triumphant run in Dublin, this production’s first-rate cast includes Sunyoung Seo (Il trittico 2023) as Cio-Cio-San, Andrés Presno as Pinkerton, Lea Shaw (L’heure espagnole 2025) as Suzuki, and Phillip Rhodes (La traviata 2024) as Sharpless.
