Aberdeen-based political engagement business Square Peg Consulting have today (August 16) unveiled an upcoming free online Q&A with the convenor of the Scottish Parliament’s Finance & Public Administration Committee, Kenneth Gibson MSP.
The event – titled ‘Parliamentary Committees: How they work and how to work with them’ – will see Square Peg Consulting founder, Mark McDonald, in conversation with Kenneth Gibson, discussing the ways in which individuals and organisations can engage with the committees of the parliament, and help shape the political agenda. There will then be an opportunity for Q&A with attendees.
The event is being held via Zoom on Friday September 17 at 2pm, and tickets can be secured from Eventbrite.
Commenting Mark McDonald said:
“This is a great opportunity to hear from a convenor of a Scottish Parliament committee about the work the committees do, and how people can get engaged and involved with it.
“Parliamentary committees don’t always grab the headlines the way things like First Minister’s Questions do, but the work they do in scrutinising legislation, or undertaking inquiries in specific subject areas, is extremely important.
“Getting more businesses and charities from the North-east of Scotland involved in the discussions at a national level is something I have always tried to encourage, and this event presents an opportunity to learn about a key area of work of the Scottish Parliament and how to influence it.”
