North-east companies can now tap into a pool of top-tier executives on a pay-as-you-go basis, thanks to a new service unveiled today by TMM Executive.

The ‘Leadership on Demand’ programme connects businesses of all sizes with seasoned chief executives, managing directors, finance directors, HR directors and other experts who are available for part-time, interim or project work.

TMM says the initiative answers a surge in requests from North-east firms looking for flexible, affordable access to senior-level talent – whether to plug experience gaps in their management teams, steer through strategic transitions or inject smart, forward-looking insight.

The Granite City-based recruiter has assembled an extensive network of business experts and energy industry luminaries who have spent decades in challenging, leadership positions.

They include former TAQA leaders Donald Taylor and Corinne Kelt, as well as seasoned local business experts Ed Morrow, Chrissie Innes, Chris Taylor, Nick Gray, Calum McGregor MBE and Steve Johnson.

These business leaders are at a stage in their careers where they want to move to part-time or portfolio working.

Amanda McCulloch, Chief Executive of TMM Executive, said: “We have been developing plans for our ‘on demand’ offering for some time now and we are delighted to be able to launch the new service in Aberdeen.

“Through conversations with leading figures in the business community, we became aware of a growing desire among many experienced executives to move to a more flexible way of working.

“At the same time, we recognised that many organisations would welcome access to higher-level expertise, but often assume they cannot attract talented leaders on a temporary or part-time basis.

“It became clear there was an opportunity to align these businesses with senior leaders in a mutually beneficial way.

“We believe the ‘on demand’ service will be a game-changer for businesses in Aberdeen that need advice and guidance from someone who has been there and done it all many times before.”

Known as ‘fractional executives’ in the recruitment sector, the model has been growing in popularity around the world in recent years. Executives might be brought in to deliver a growth strategy, some long-term strategic thinking, operational oversight, issue resolution or as experienced cover for an extended period of absence.

Unlike other existing forms of leadership resourcing in the region, TMM’s service does not simply allocate an executive to a client.

Amanda added: “Our service follows the model that we have always used. When a client outlines their requirements, we identify executives from our exclusive network who best meet those needs.

“We then present a carefully selected shortlist and facilitate constructive introductions and discussions. While we share our recommendations, based on skills and experience, the final decision is reached by mutual agreement between the TMM executive and the hiring client.”

The service is suitable for businesses of all sizes and stages of growth. Bespoke arrangements can be agreed to suit all parties, including part-time, fixed term, and project specific working.

Donald Taylor, former Managing Director at TAQA has joined the TMM network, having worked for over 40 years in the energy sector.

He said: “After a long career in operations and management, I had been thinking for some timethat I would like to find a more flexible way of working.

“When I heard about TMM Executive’s new service, it felt like the perfect opportunity for me to do just that, while still being able to use my decommissioning, engineering and leadership experience to help a range of businesses in Aberdeen in any way I can.

“Having signed up to join the TMM network, I look forward to getting going.”

Corinne Kelt, a respected HR leader, highlights why TMM’s flexible model resonates: “In energy, there’s constant tension between skills resourcing and headcount constraints. Fractional executives offer timely, tailored leadership without long-term overhead.

“For me, joining TMM’s executive network is a win-win. It allows me to stay engaged in meaningful leadership, advising and coaching teams on a fractional or project basis. By applying my experience and independent perspective, I help shape people strategies that drive future business success."
