North-east restaurant to welcome award-winning family wine maker

An iconic North-east restaurant is set to host its first wine tasting event with top Italian wine maker.

The Silver Darling, which is based in Fittie, is welcoming Cecilia Pasqua of Pasqua Wines on Thursday, April 26, to share her family wines, which will be paired with a four course menu created by head chef, Craig Somers.

The restaurant which has recently re-opened following renovation, has joined forces with their wine merchant, Corney & Barrow to host the event which will showcase a variety of the wines from Pasqua’s unique portfolio including one of their new products, the 2017 ‘11 Minutes Rose’ and for a first in the UK, their vineyard’ Mai Dire Mai Valpolicella Superiore 2012.

Founded in 1925 in Verona, Cecilia is part of the 3rd generation trio, now leading the company to become an internationally recognised brand and carrying the flag of Italy’s wine culture worldwide. She will be sharing her expert wine knowledge with guests, along with her family success story.

Barbara O’Driscoll, general manager of The Silver Darling, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Cecilia for what is going to be a fantastic and unique event. Along with a great showcase of our food, Cecilia will be on hand sharing her favourite wines and in-depth knowledge about her family wines whilst also giving an insight to the day-to-day activities of a wine maker.”

Cecilia Pasqua, export manager at Pasqua Wines, continued: “I am very excited to be working with The Silver Darling for this event and looking forward to showcasing our wine, our story and also some of our new products. I am based at our headquarters in Verona so I am not often in the UK so it is great to be able to share our brand in Aberdeen. It’s going to be a special evening and I cannot wait to see our wines paired with the delicious food and in the unique setting of The Silver Darling.”

Tickets for the event cost £65 per person which includes four course dinner with paired wines and arrival drink. For bookings, please call on 01224 576229 or email reservations@thesilverdarling.co.uk.
